End Of Year Posting Error

When performing year-end closing procedures, a frequently encountered error message is: "There are unposted GL Transactions for the current fiscal year. These must be posted before continuing."

The following steps outline the resolution for this error:

Step1

Navigate to G/L Transactions.

It is imperative to review the fiscal year that is undergoing closure. In our scenario, we are closing the 2024 fiscal year. Therefore, within the "Search For" field, select January 1, 2024, and in the "Matching After" field, select December 31, 2024, for "Matching Before." Our objective is to identify any unposted transactions within the 2024 fiscal year.

As demonstrated in the accompanying example, there are several Journal Entries requiring posting to the General Ledger. Kindly ensure these entries are accurately posted within their respective months.

Once that is completed, please attempt the year-end posting again.

Step 2

If the error persists, it may be necessary to adjust the date range for your selection further back. Occasionally, General Ledger transactions are recorded with dates outside of the fiscal year being closed. Please try selecting a date in the 1970s or even earlier, as this may help in locating the transaction.

Once the problematic transaction has been identified, you will be able to proceed with the End of Year Posting without further complications.
